D24.361 Rhizome of Wood - Prison of Nirthrond, Divine Sovereign of Ceveceles
An infernal demiplane that contains the Rhizome of Wood, one the 7 ancient, transcendent arcane nodes responsible for creating the Rootwall which barred the Dwarves of Craagveald from delving deeper.
The plane looks no different from an elven haven above ground, suspended in an ocean of clouds, which contains numerous ornately constructed wooden pavilions meticulously shaped alongside tastefully weaving canals that appear to transport crimson blood towards the edge of each platform, creating waterfalls of blood.
Each pavilion is tended to by wood elementals that take the form of beautiful, gracefully elves dressed in translucent drapery.
They will treat all creatures like guests and offer them food and drink, which is extremely well made, highly rejuvenating and can even cure some diseases.
Should they be attacked they will not retaliate, and when slain their bodies will meld with the pavilions and disappear before reappearing an hour later.
After resting with these elven servants or destroying them, their replacement will invite visitors to meet Nirthrond in his throne room, which is around 2d6 pavilions to the centre where a 400ft diameter throne room lies, surrounding the colossal Rhizome of Wood.
Seated on the throne is Nirthrond, a dwarf with very long crimson red hair worn in an elven style, wearing crimson robes, who appears to be in such a color due to his incessant bleeding, which flows into a pool of blood surrounding his throne and channeled across the demiplane.
Unlike his counterparts, Nirthrond is extremely lucid and very calm, and he will answer all questions any visitors have truthfully to the best of his ability, but may become exhausted after 3 hours.
He will reveal that he has been doomed by 6 different Gods, due to having gained a powerful divine inheritance, and will offer a way out of the Rhizome, and guarantee it's destruction if the visitor agrees to slay the 6 champions of the Gods who doomed him.
Should one be a champion of one of those Gods, or display intent to harm him, he will use his divine prowess of Lignifaction, to transform creatures and their equipment into wood. All matter not made of ethereal or legendary matter will very rapidly turn into wood.
Should one have partaken in one of the meals offered in the pavilions, wooden spikes will begin to burst from one's organs and arteries.
Should one have received also another divine inheritance of Lignifaction, he will immediately try to possess one's body and consume one's soul, as this would allow him to finally ascend into a demigod.
Nirthrond can only be slain from the direct curse of a 7th God other than those who have already doomed him, or with a weapon containing that curse or with a combination of at least 5 curses from the Champions of the 6 Gods.
When slain, the Rhizome of Wood will fall apart.
