Basic Fantasy 4e Solo Play - The Adventures of Mount Chanticleer, Day 3-26

A quick report on the adventures of the Mount Chanticleer party.

This time we have a mock death and a real death.

From the last session, the party rested for a week with Edric sending word of recruiting someone to replace the deceased Milvaeus.

Taking her place was... Olynthi the Spellthief - an Elf, multiclassed as Magic User and Thief. She learned the spell Magic Missile and had her shortbow. 

With her help, the party managed to make their way to the ruined castle, successfully ambushing a squad of orcs, from which they discovered the location of the the Chaotic Caves.

As they were unscathed, they decided to continue their exploration, making their way directly to the indicated site of the Chaotic Caves.

They were jumped by one of the patrols while exploring, causing Caladac the Cleric to fall from battle. Though actually she didn't die because I accidentally did not record her AC as 18 due to her shield (more on that later). 

There they managed to break into an Orc Lair, but and fought through several squads discovering a cell where a Merchant was held. Making a deal to get a reward of 100gp for escorting him back,  

Carrying Caladac's body, they decide to go back to town.

Their journey was thankfully uneventful as those they encountered mostly ran away due to low morale.

Assuming that Caladac was dead, they almost buried her and sold her stuff, but before she was buried she suddenly awoke and was furious that her belongings were sold. Edric and Simbul compensated her and convinced the party to compensate her by giving her the full reward for rescuing the merchant.

What was more infuriating the Caladac was the Edric sent word to replace her, and her replacement Lozat the Cleric arrived. With this Caladac decided to use some of the money to buy oil pots and holy water to serve as grenades.

Thereafter they attempted to challenge the Chaotic caves again, and slew a bugbear on the way back to the caves. 

They were much more successful in their second raid, clearing out the western side of the Orc lair, with several very close shaves, saved at several times by Caladacs employment of molotovs.

After clearing it out, they decided to head back first with their newfound loot, which amounted to around 1.4 K gold. With this wealth, they got themselves riding horses. 

After resting for a week to recover from wounds from their raid, they rode again to the Chaotic caves - but unfortunately encountered 3 bugbears!

It was at this battle that the newcomer Lozat fell from his zeal at trying to smite a bugbear.

They put tied his body to his horse and had Zimrul lead it toward the Cavern has they had to earn their keep for the week.
