Despite the machinations of his father and many rivals, Kur-Aked prevailed over tribulation after tribulation - what he initially saw as a means to better himself he soon despised and he despaired as he realized it was the result of those whom he loved and protected.

Despite this resentment however, he bided his time, maintaining his decorum and heir apparent as he saw all those who opposed him would eventually be forced to follow him eventually when he inherited his father's Seat.
