L25.295 Mausoleum Guardian

Across all parts of the land, the concept of state of death is extremely sacred, and all temples of the different deities worshipped through the land all have a Branch of Death that dictate very specific funerary rites.

Almost common across all Branches of Death in all Temples in the land do the Rite of Guardians, which manifest spirit guardians that protect the dead from tomb raiders.

Regardless of whether the dead is a commoner interred within a catacomb, or a wealthy merchant or nobleman resting within an opulent mausoleum, the Rite of Guardians is conducted without question.

The Temple also treats the war-dead extremely carefully, and it is considered a war crime to smuggle the dead of another polity, although it is known to the people of the underworld and criminal societies to be a highly profitable business for reasons not even known to themselves.
