In truth, had she, alone, witnessed the death of these fragile creatures, she would have hardly batted an eyelid.

To her own shame she recalled terrorizing a few of these creatures in a fit of rage during her youth, when things did not go according to her plans.

Despite the sorrowful scene before her, she chuckled slightly as she recalled her own lack of empathy in contrast to her grandson's.

Perhaps that is why I still live... She thought solemnly as she briefly recalled the countenance of her sons who had all perished before her.
