L25.118 Sunnuru's Acqueduct
Ruins of a colossal acqueduct which once transported water from the Dry Lakes, during the Age of Petty Kingdoms. Said to be the work of Arartu the Enslaved King, said to have been a distant ancestor of the renowned Heroic Slave Shal-Adul.
Once, Arartu sought to build a great tower from the secrets of Tonal Magics he learned in secret, hoping to enter the Higher Realms. He was punished by Divine Lightning which dashed his work, and it was said he was inspired by this divine indictment and pledged a life of servitude to his people, building many works of infrastructure that have endured even the winds of time.
The acqueduct is named after Sunnuru, a barley farmer who asked the Enslaved King for water to be brought to his land.
While the acqueduct no longer carries water, it casts a large shadow and provides a shaded path the travels leagues between Ninur-Sin and An-Ligir.
The site is also frequently visited by scholarly processions from Lal-Mit hoping to glean the secrets of Tonal magic from the ancient king's work.
