D24.362 Rhizome of Light - Prison of Zauthula

An infernal demiplane that contains the Rhizome of Light, one the 7 ancient, transcendent arcane nodes responsible for creating the Rootwall which barred the Dwarves of Craagveald from delving deeper.

The demiplane contains holds a brightly lit, rolling fields of silver reeds that seem to span infinitely across a span of 1000ft in diameter, occasionally punctuated with blinding thickets of resplendent crystalline trees.

At the centre of the area is the unusually colossal Rhizome of Light which shines brightly in rays of silver. Those not accustomed to brightness may find the light unbearable.

Around the Rhizome of light appears to be a burg 400ft in diameter followed by a tall but small castle 200ft in diameter that spirals around the Rhizome near its upper crown where the likeness of a large pavilion can be seen.

The burg around the castle is extremely well crafted and tended to be crystalline humanoids that emit warm light. They seem to be going about their lives as usual, farming, crafting and eating various foods made from flour from the silver reeds and sometimes the various fruits and mushrooms harvested from crystalline forests.

Consuming these foods will cause one to slowly undergo the process of crystallisation, turning one's flesh into the crystalline being of light which bestows one immortality and great resistance to brightness, but requires one to eat only the food grown in the Rhizome.

One may seek audience with the Heroine of Kyrneria, Zauthula, who stays in castle at the centre of the burg, but she will only grant audience if one claims that they bring information from outside the Rhizome.

If one has the intent to destroy the Rhizome, she will mobilize her people to attack those with malintent as she reveals that the crystalline humanoids were part of her loyal retinue who followed her march into Craagveald, and destroying the Rhizome, which has bestowed her powers of creation had preserved their lives for the last few centuries.

Unlike her people, she shows no sign of crystallisation, outwardly, but her soul has inherited the inheritance of light which grants her the ability to manifest crystalline matter from light - which can only be impeded by transcendent powers of time or darkness.

She fights by manifesting weapons from light and moving extremely swiftly such that one can hardly see her, and all of her moves emit blinding light which is highly distracting and can even temporarily blind one.

When slain, the Rhizome of Light crumbles alongside her castle, burg and her people begin to disintegrate alongside the idyllic landscapes of the demiplane.
