Quick Yoon Suin Hexcrawl: Session 1

Today I decided to just play a quick and dirty hexcrawl based on the Yoon Suin setting. The hexes were generated from original tables I made using Alex Schroeder's Hex-Describe system. I made it work with the text-mapper too, and some day I might share it when its complete. Currently it has all the content of Yellow City Surrounds, plus some original content like Yoon-suin themed jungle ruins and vanilla Delving Deeper jungle encounters, and weapon descriptions.

Mel the dwarf decides to head out of the Yellow City to seek her fortunes. She decides to hire a number of hirelings:

Ranga - Sabre, light armour shield, AC 6, Huge and Muscular, Gold Locket 

Surya - Short bow, dagger, light armour AC 7, Horribly Reckless, 10' string

Tanka - Guandao, no armour, AC 9, Is always Perspiring, 9 days worth of rations

1003: Yellow City, Day 1

She decides to travel north.

1002: Topaz Mine, Day 1, Morning

Mel comes upon a topaz mine and asks around for rumors. She learns that someone is stealing stuff inside the mine. Does she a manage to find who?

Angrily, Mel strikes back with her morning star!

She swings her morning star and it comes into contact with Bam’s ribs - erupting into blood and gore as Bam collapses!

Yes! Terrified of Mel’s sheer might, they scatter and run about.

From the smugglers’ stash, Mel discovers 11 topaz gems (worth 2900 GP)

She decides to keep it for herself and return to the city to sell it and recover from her wounds. She manages to sell them all for 2100 GP. She grows to level 2! HP: 1/4

6 days to recover her health. She rents a place for 21 GP for 1 month. She decides to pay her hirelings upfront 2 GP each. GP left: 2706 GP She decides to store her gold in a bank and leave on hand 100 GP.

Now all rested up, she decides to travel NW.

0903: Jet Mine, Day 6 Morning

She discovers a Jet mine owned by a man named Jang. The slaves working look a bit too angry and menacing so she decides to travel on somewhere else - NW

0802: Hydra Nest, Day 6 Afternoon

She discovers a Hydra nest! Are the Hydras present?

No! There doesn’t seem to be any Hydra present… she decides to risk it an look for some treasure… and manages to, discovering:

1000 cp 2 gp 3 pieces of jewelry Cursed Claymore -2 , Its blade is indigo and broken. It has a translucent silver tsuba fitted with an aquamarine. Its handle is made of gold leaves. Its has a parchment white fig pommel

Being a greedy dwarf, she grabs all the loot, including the broken Claymore, seeing how it is fitted with a precious gem. The claymore glows black and she can’t get her hands off it!

Do the Hydrae return?

Yes! To make matters worse, she hears loud slithering and the crinkling of leaves in the distance. Two massive nine headed Hydrae!

Surya and Tanka are unbelievably frightened and start making a run for it. But Ranga on the other hand keeps his cool. Still, Mel tells him to make a run for it and they do!

Thankfully, they manage to leave the nest without the Hydrae pursuing any further. Their fleeing has led them to a random hex!

0803: Jungle, Spider Encounter, Day 6 Evening

They run off to the south and while catching their breath, they see 3 giant spiders roaming the vicinity.

Do the spiders notice them?

Thankfully the giant spiders pass by, and after a few moments they leave the area where the party is.

Very weary from the long exertion, the party decides to return to the Yellow City.

0903: Jet Mine, Day 6 Night

It is now night, and the mine’s activity has died down somewhat. The party decides to continue back to the Yellow City.

1003: Yellow City, Day 6 Midnight

Tired from a day of adventuring, Mel and her party decide to rest until dawn.

1003: Yellow City, Day 7 Morning

Mel decides to sell the 3 pieces of jewelry worth 10800 gp. Unfortunately she got conned and only managed to sell it for 5832 gp. This brings her to level 3.

Mel now has a goal to remove the cursed sword from her hand.
